Maju Mantilla correrá maratón por niños del INABIF

La guapa modelo se comprometió a participar en la Maratón Inabif, evento que busca beneficiar a niños discapacitados.

Lima. La ex Miss Mundo llevó alegría con su presencia a los niños discapacitados del hogar Matilde Pérez Palacio y se comprometió a participar en la Maratón Inabif 7.3K “Corre por los Niños”, a realizarse el 12 de junio para recaudar fondos y construir un taller de equinoterapia.
Gracias a esta maratón solidaria, cientos de menores que padecen discapacidades severas y que se encuentran en estado de abandono podrán iniciar su tratamiento de rehabilitación, gracias a la maquinaria que se comprará con los fondos obtenidos. Como fundadora de la ONG “Moviendo Corazones”, Mantilla pasó una emotiva tarde con los menores de la institución.

“He decidido participar en la carrera porque los pequeños del Inabif nos necesitan. A mí me gustan los niños y me conmueven mucho, sobre todo cuando siento que se puede hacer muchas cosas para ayudarlos a que tengan una mejor calidad de vida”, indicó Maju, quien invitó al público a inscribirse.

La Maratón Inabif 7.3K “Corre por los Niños” de este 12 de junio se iniciará a las 9 y media de la mañana teniendo como punto de partida y llegada al estadio municipal Manuel Bonilla de Miraflores. Las inscripciones pueden hacerse en tiendas Ripley de San Miguel, Miraflores y el Jockey Plaza y tienen un costo de S/. 30.

The date and location for the 61st Miss World Final has been announced - 6th November 2011, in London, England.

The first Miss World event was created by Eric Morley in 1951 as part of his promotion of the Festival of Britain, which took place on the South Bank of the River Thames. Miss World is approaching its 60th birthday and wants to celebrate with a very special party by returning to where it all began on London’s South Bank. The special event will feature winners from the past and present, and we will be re-living some of the special moments and star names that have been a part of our 60 year history. Our celebrations will take contestants across the United Kingdom in the run-up to the final, to be held in London on Sunday 6th November 2011.

Miss World and Miss World Africa deliver speeches

Yesterday evening, Miss World Alexandria Mills and Miss World Africa Emma Wareus impressed the gathered students and alumni of the University of Cambridge as they delivered speeches in the famous Debating Hall of the Cambridge Union Society. Invited to speak by the world's oldest and most prestigious debating society, it gave the assembled audience a chance to hear about all aspects of what it means to be Miss World.

Alexandria's speech, entitled "More Than I Could Ever Imagine", focused on her experiences of becoming Miss World, and how it has changed her life, offering a personal and emotional insight into her time as Miss World. Emma explained the role of Beauty with a Purpose and the international charity work that is at the heart of Miss World, as well as different perspectives in Botswana, Africa, and around the world. Together they spoke for over an hour, and the enthusiastic response from the audience continued as they spent a further hour and a half meeting and speaking with those in attendance, answering further questions.

Earlier in the day, Alexandria and Emma met with students and society members for a tour of Cambridge and the University campus, and enjoyed a traditional punting boat trip along the River Cam

La Conferencia Mundial de Variety 2011 tuvo lugar esta semana en Chicago, Illinois. La Presidenta de Miss Mundo Julia Morley es también Presidenta Internacional de Variety, The Children's Charity, y a lo largo de la semana de recaudación de fondos, ceremonias y premios, Miss Mundo Alexandria Mills, Miss Mundo África Emma Wareus, y Mr. Mundo Kamal Ibrahim han estado aprendiendo más sobre Variety y echando una mano durante los eventos.

La Conferencia llegó a su final el domingo por la noche con los Premios Humanitarios que tuvieron lugar en la Magnífica Sala de baile del histórico Palmer House Hilton Hotel. Los Chicago Cubs  recibieron el Premio Humanitario por su trabajo caritativo local e internacional, y Miss World fue invitada a cantar " Take Me Out to the Ball Game " durante la 7ª  entrada con dos niños que se habían beneficiado de las donaciones de Variety y los Cubs. Lamentablemente, el juego fue pospuesto debido a la lluvia, pero una visita al Estadio de Wrigley resultó ser una experiencia memorable. Miss Mundo y Miss Mundo África fueron entrevistadas más tarde en show de radio WGN 'Sports Night', en su estudio en el famoso edificio de Torre Tribuna, y hablaron sobre sus experiencias durante los pasados seis meses y el trabajo de Variety.

El viernes por la noche, la convención fue la anfitriona de los Premios Corazón, donde las Tents de Variety alrededor del mundo fueron honradas por el trabajo del año pasado, con la Tent 36 - Gran Bretaña recibió el Premio Corazón de Oro. Pero hoy era todo sobre los niños, cuando los miembros de Variety montaron un barco en el Lago el Embarcadero Naval de Michigan para el Almuerzo "Servimos a los Niños". Los niños de varios grupos, escuelas y organizaciones en Chicago que había recibido el apoyo de Variety fueron llevados a un almuerzo especial a bordo, con juegos de parque de atracciones, actuaciones de circo, arte, pintura facial, y música para tenerlos entretenidos -  Alejandría, Emma y Kamal todos participando en la diversión.

Ex Miss Mundo Peruana MAJU MANTILLA EN LIMA FASHION WEEK

   

La exMiss Mundo Maju Mantilla participó en el Lima Fashion Week desfilando uno de los modelos de la colección de Sitka Semsch el día inaugural del evento y dijo que estará el sábado participando en la pasarela de Ani Álvarez Calderón.
“Estoy muy contenta de participar en el primer Lima Fashion Week.

Es un evento que nos merecíamos desde hace tiempo sobre todo si tenemos en cuenta que hay países cercanos que cuentan con su semana de la moda. Estamos mostrando lo mejor que tenemos, la materia prima peruana, los trabajos de las mujeres que trabajan en telas, en el hilo de alpaca”, indicó.

"El primer día ha comenzado con fuerza y dura hasta el sábado pero creo que cada día es especial porque cada diseñador muestra lo que imaginó. Hemos visto los modelos de Claudia Jiménez, tan románticos y los de Sitka que son más opacos pero también muy elegantes. Perú definitivamente es moda”, finalizó.

Ex Miss Mundo Peruana MAJU MANTILLA se casa en ENERO 2012

María Julia Mantilla reconfirmó sus planes de boda. En conversación con Terra.com.pe manifestó que el enlace civil y religioso con su prometido Gustavo Salcedo se llevará a cabo en enero del 2012 en su natal Trujillo, no será tan pomposa como el de Juan Diego Flórez, sin embargo estarán invitadas personalidades del mundo de la belleza como la organizadora del Miss Mundo, Julia Morley y las ex reinas ganadoras de dicho certamen.

“Me gustaría invitar a todo el mundo, pero hay un tema de privacidad tanto para la familia de mi novio y la mía. Elegí Trujillo porque amo a esta ciudad. Será una ceremonia bonita y sobria”, expresó la ex Miss Mundo.

Maju sostuvo que enviará invitaciones al entorno de la Organización Miss Mundo. “Julia (Morley, la presidenta) es una buena amiga, también las otras chicas que ganaron el concurso en los otros años y algunos amigos que hice en Londres”, dijo.

Detalló que los planes están más encaminados en estos días debido a que su novio Gustavo recientemente volvió a Lima, después de acabar la carrera en Londres. “No he pensado en retirarme del tema de la belleza, puede ser que ya no modele, sin embargo seguiré como vocera de diferentes productos”.

De lo que no pretende desligarse es del tema deportivo. Por lo pronto el domingo estará en una maratón benéfica. “Me operé de la rodilla en el 2009, ya no corro como antes, sin embargo siempre diré que el deporte es mi vida”, enfatizó.

Details are to be announced shortly for the Miss World 60th Anniversary Celebrations, due to take place in London on 29th July 2011. This will be exactly 60 years to the day that the first Miss World final took place - 29th July 1951.

The diamond anniversary celebrations began with the 60th Miss World Final, held on October 30th 2010 in Sanya, China, where Alexandria Mills of the United States was crowned the 60th Miss World, and will reach its grand finale with the Miss World 2011 Final.

Originally launched by Eric Morley as a one-off publicity event to coincide with the Festival of Britain in London, the 1951 event saw a total of 26 contestants participating, with Sweden's Kiki Håkansson declared the first ever Miss World. Such was its success that the competition became an annual event, with a new Miss World crowned every year.

El tercer evento de mayor audiencia televisiva mundial podría llegar a Rosario para fin de año: es que ya comenzaron las gestiones para que la edición 2011 de Miss Mundo se realice en City Center Rosario.

Así pudo saberlo IMPULSO, que dialogó con Nadia Cerri, directora de Miss Mundo Argentina. "Estamos haciendo gestiones para traer Miss Mundo al país. Aún no está definida la fecha, pero se va a hacer en noviembre o diciembre", adelantó.

"Ya lo hemos hablado con la gente de City Center. La verdad es que nos encantaría traer este evento acá, el lugar es espectacular. No sólo esto, sino también Rosario, tiene capacidad para recepcionar a la gente que podría venir", explicó.

La elección de Miss Mundo es, televisivamente, el tercer evento más visto en el mundo: luego de la final de la Copa Mundial de Fútbol y de la apertura de los Juegos Olímpicos, sigue este certamen, que lo ven más de 2 mil millones de personas en vivo.

"El complejo es espectacular. Tiene todo en un mismo lugar: el hotel, el casino, el centro de convenciones, los restaurantes. La verdad que es de verdadero primer mundo", señaló Cerri.

THE new Miss World Philippines pageant headed by wellness guru Cory Quirino kicked off with a grand launch at the SMDC Grand Showroom at the Mall of Asia complex last March 23. Cory was awarded the Miss World franchise last January 25 by no less than Miss World president Julia Morley, who came to Manila along with the reigning Miss World beauty queens.

As chair and CEO of CQ Global Quest, Cory Quirino said the new pageant organization has adopted the slogan "Beauty in Giving" in line with Miss World’s "Beauty for a Purpose" inspiration that has raised more than $400 million to support countless charities. CQGQ’s charity gala night has chosen the PGH Medical Foundation and Tuloy Street Children Foundation as Miss World Philippines’ major beneficiaries.

The well-attended grand launch also formally announced the grand alliances of the pageant – major presenter SM Development Corporation (SMDC), with its vice chairman Henry Sy, Jr. in attendance; TV partner GMA-7 represented by senior vice president for entertainment Wilma Galvante; bank partner Banco de Oro; mall partner SM Supermalls; and official residence Traders Hotel Manila. Puerto Princesa Mayor Edward Hagedorn was also present, the "city in a forest" and its famous Underground River being the official tourist destination of the pageant.

The Miss World crown is dubbed as the "most coveted beauty crown in the world" with over a hundred contestants from as many countries and territories vying every year. For Filipinas, it has also been the most elusive; Vangie Pascual and Ruffa Gutierrez managed to snag runner-up honors in 1973 and 1993, respectively. Cory has expressed her hope of finally selecting the first Filipina who could win the Miss World crown. The pageant’s interactive official website www.missworldphilippines.com is now open for applicants. Deadline for submission of application is on June 15, 2011. A cool one million pesos and a condo unit from SMDC await the winner who will be crowned in a grand finals night at the PICC on July 30, 2011. 

Julia Morley will be in Manila to chair the panel of judges; the winner will represent the Philippines at the 2011 Miss World Pageant to be held in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA on December 3. Cory also expressed her plan for the Philippines to bid to host the 62nd Miss World Pageant in 2013.

The 11th advocacy-driven Miss Philippines-Earth beauty pageant has kicked off, aligning itself with the "International Year of the Forests" as it centers this year’s competition with the promotion of forests conservation. 

Last March 22, the current Miss Philippines Earth winners and the (initial) candidates this year took over Manila as they invaded the stage in a fashion show cum preliminary judging at Robinsons Place Ermita, strutting environmental wear.
