CANDIDATAS AL MISS MUNDO VISITARAN EXPO 2010 EN SHANGAI
9th August 2010
Miss World contestants to visit Expo 2010
|
One of the highlights of the Miss World 2010 tour of China will be the visit to Shanghai, home of Expo 2010. With some 200 nations and international organisations represented on a site covering over 5 square km, and 70 million visitors expected over six months, Expo 2010 is the largest World Exposition yet, and is held in a tradition extending back to London’s Great Exhibition of 1851. With the theme “Better City, Better Life” reflecting its focus on worldwide urbanisation, it also mirrors Shanghai’s increasing success and importance as one of the major cities of the world.
The Miss World 2010 contestants will be special guests at Expo 2010, with an event to be held in their honour. The 120 representatives will be visiting their own national pavilions which showcase their respective countries and cultures to the tens of thousands of visitors every day, as well as taking the chance to visit those of their new international friends. They will also enjoy some of the many varied sights Shanghai itself, China’s global city, has to offer. From the modern skyscrapers of Pudong with the famous Oriental Pearl Tower, to the grand old-fashioned Western buildings along the Bund, and from the bustling shopping street of Nanjing Road, to the historic temples and gardens of the Old City, Shanghai is a remarkably distinct, unique and exciting city, rich with history and culture.
And from Shanghai, it will be on to Sanya for the 60th Miss World Final, on 30th October 2010.
