New Delhi: If you fancy your footwork then you can go on the run at the Delhi University marathon to be held early next month. And apart from the fact that the event is for a noble cause - saving the girl child - there's added incentive. Reigning Miss Universe Ximena Navarrete from Mexico is expected to be present at the venue.
"We are organising a marathon for celebrating the girl child. It will be hosted in the university's north campus. It will be a 10 km marathon and will be flagged off by Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit," said Akshay Kumar, Jt Secretary, Delhi University Students' Association (DUSU).
Around five thousand youths are expected to participate. Celebrities like boxers Akhil Kumar and Vijender Singh as well as fashion designer Sanjana Jon will be partaking in the event. We have a DJ session before the main event starts. Rewards of Rs 20000, 10000 and 5000 along with trophies and certificates will be distributed amongst the top three finishers," said Akshay.
