Miss Universo visits AFAI

Yesterday, AID FOR AIDS International had the pleasure of welcoming Miss Universe, Stefania Fernandez, as she visited our offices to engage in a “round table” talk with AFAI’s New York beneficiaries living with HIV and AIDS. Beneficiaries who receive services from AFAI sat down with Stefania over breakfast to talk about their experiences living with HIV, with stigma and discrimination, with their experiences with AFAI, and about what they hope Stefania learned from their stories. The conversation was in Spanish, as Stefania is a native of Venezuela. Miss Universe also shared some of her own story, including all of her hard work to achieve her title. After their talk, beneficiaries took the chance to take some photos with Stefania and all expressed the desire for another breakfast conversation with Miss Universe.
